Calling all Christians in Troy - let's pray for our city.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

In recent months (and years), our city has experienced a lot of violence, a lot of tragedy, and a lot of injustice. It is time for the cloud that is over Troy to lift. It is time for us of all different denominations to join together and with one voice, pray for God to change our city.

"Violence shall no more be heard in your land, devastation or destruction within your borders; you shall call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise. The sun shall be no more your light by day; nor for brightness shall the moon give you light; but the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory." Isaiah 60:18-19

We're asking each person to take a few minutes of each day of October during the noon hour and pray for Troy, wherever you are. Daily prayer topics will be posted here; feel free to add others.

Finally, I want to challenge you to spread the word in your own network of Christians in Troy - let's get the whole city praying; as many people as possible. Please ask your churches, your Christian friends, small groups, any other Christians or churches you know in Troy to join together in this.

September 29: Angelic Allies in a Spiritual War

"Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. And tthe great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, 'Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.'"
-- Revelation 12:7-11

Many churches today are celebrating the feast day of St. Michael and all of the holy angels -- the supernatural beings who serve God and consider us "brothers" (and sisters) in the spiritual battle being waged on the earth.

Troy is obviously a part of that battle, and very real demons have had their way here in far too many lives for far too long. Let's pray for the Holy Spirit to give us supernatural eyes to see the unseen -- to understand the demonic influences around us for what they are so we can better pray in Jesus Christ's authority for deliverance and healing. Let's also ask the Father to send his holy angels to fight alongside us, protect us, and minister to us.
